MICAH Leadership Council Meeting, 11/18/2025

MICAH's Leadership Council met at Grace-St. Luke's Church on Nov. 18, 2025. Items discussed included:

• Actions (Christmas Boycott) against AT&T and Target due to their aid to ICE oppression of Immigrants

• Bootcamp training of Organizers in Washington DC and Chicago, centered around non-violent non-cooperation techniques

• Upcoming nationwide organizer meeting in January 2026

• the recent (Nov. 9) MICAH fundraiser

  • over $50K raised: less than target, but still a big win for MICAH

  • great energy & organization, was fun for all who attended

  • still need to work on balance of time for music, socializing, awards, etc.

  • good start to build on for next year

• Still have a number of member organizations who need to send their yearly dues. If you are not sure if your member organization is up to date, please contact April@micahmemphis.org to ask about your dues status.

• Freethe901 / Democracy and Faith program starting 11/19, trying to get the discussion into all member organizations to build energy

• Elections upcoming in 2026: we need to start organizing to get out the vote, especially for the primaries

• Chairpersons for the Transformational Justice Task Force were elected: congratulations to Rev. Laura Gettys and Ethel Kilgore-Ball

• Future Leadership Council meetings will start at 6:00 PM, will have snacks, and (as much as we can arrange it) be hybrid so people who don't drive at night can attend
