With advancing age and declining health, Monday was probably my last direct action for social
justice. But I could not let the opportunity pass to give whatever support I could lend to the work of the action which took place on Macon Road that morning.
The reason for my action was my deep seated conviction that the current Immigration Policy is a repeat of the sad instances the Slaughter of the Innocents in the past. All of the faith

groups participating Monday share their collective horror at Pharaoh’s slaughter of the first born in Moses time ( see Exodus1) or Herod’s murder of the first born in Jesus’ time (see Matthew 2). A recent replay of that sad story is found in Hitler’s Germany 1938 and Kristallnacht when Jews were singled out, targeted, and licensed for eventual extinction.
I pray we shall not repeat the silence of the German people when that occurred. We must not allow our immigrant neighbors to be so targeted and have their lives disrupted and families ruined. We cannot remain silent as ICE perpetuates this slaughter of the innocents among us.
