Why should we care?
SCS’s ability to provide a quality, equitable education is being undercut by high teacher turnover and year-long teaching vacancies, as well as significant maintenance deficiencies within the schools, all of which leads to higher financial, educational, and health costs. A lack of access to wraparound services provided by qualified social workers, psychologists, and nurses inhibits the successful treatment of trauma or Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE). Abuse, neglect, and trauma significantly increase the likelihood of suspensions, juvenile criminal behavior, and incarceration. With a median age four years below the national average, Memphis’s population can support economic development, but only if we provide children in our community access to opportunities and support.

Lisa Moore is the founder and CEO of Moore Possibilities Consulting. Through coaching, training, retreats and key note speaking, Moore Possibilities equips leaders and teams to dream, strategize and mobilize inspired growth for positive community impact. Lisa draws upon her 35+ years of executive leadership experience to bring expertise, humor, empathy and a bit of tough love in her collaborations with her clients. Lisa’s professional journey has included leadership roles: as CEO at Girls Inc.’s in Memphis, TN and Haverhill MA; as Region II Director across 14 states for Girls Inc.; Vice President of BRIDGES USA; and Sr. Learning and Management Specialist at FedEx Services.

Alongside her professional roles, she’s provided leadership in numerous community collaboratives including Co-creator of Bachelors in Education, Youth Development major at University of Memphis; member of National Board of Directors, Girls Inc. 2017-2023; candidate for Memphis City Council 2018; member of Board of Directors, Urban Renaissance Partners 2017-2018; Secretary of Board of Directors, Lindenwood Christian Church 2015; Co-founder and director of Common Ground: Conversations on Race, Communities in Action 2008; planned and implemented multi-generational community-based strategic plan process for City of Memphis Park Services division 2008; founding board member of the April 4th Foundation 2000; and appointed to Memphis City Beautiful Commission 2000.
Lisa is a world traveler, a mother to two adult children, is a native Memphian. She graduated from Memphis State University with a bachelor’s in education, received her master’s in education from Concordia University, St. Paul, MN, and is a 2003 graduate of Leadership Memphis. Her awards include: Memphis’ Most Powerful People list by PowerPoll 2023; Interesting and Influential 100 inaugural issue member 2019, included in the 2018 Commercial Appeal Person of the Year which honored “The Citizen Activist” for her work to stop a landfill, received two Bravo Zulu awards at FedEx Services 2011, 2012; voted one of 12 People Who Made A Difference by the Commercial Appeal newspaper in 2009, the 2007 Professional Advocate of the Year from the West Region of Tennessee Conference for Social Welfare.
